Lunchtime - Play leaders and Kindness Police
Each lunchtime our Upper KS2 Play Leaders set up and support a range of fun activities for our younger pupils to enjoy for example basketball, skipping, colouring. They are fantastic role models, helping their peers to take turns, work as a team and learn new skills.
At Springwood Junior Academy, our core values (PRIDE - positive, respectful, independent, determined, empathetic) are at the heart of everything we do. In order to support positive play, equipment is organised into zones and playtime games are taught in PE. Our Corridor monitors provide positive praise to pupils moving around school well and remind pupils of expectations when required.
After School Curricular Clubs
At Springwood Junior Academy, our dedicated staff are committed to supporting pupils to experience, and engage, in a wide range of opportunities helping them to become well-rounded, confident and happy individuals. After school clubs are varied to ensure that all pupils' interests are targeted for example dance, rounders, sewing, cooking, sign language, gardening, mindfulness. Pupils who receive Pupil Premium funding are actively encouraged to attend clubs and take-up is good. We provide our after school curricular clubs for free ensuring all pupils can attend.
After School Childcare
In order to meet the needs of our families, we also provide an after school childcare facility Monday to Friday 3 - 5:30pm. FS1, FS2 and KS1 pupils are escorted in to the school hall by a member of staff at the end of the school day; KS2 pupils move through school in to the hall at 3pm where a register is taken. Once at after school childcare club, a snack and drink is provided for example, toast, biscuit, fruit followed by pupils being able to access a range of activities including arts and crafts, table tennis, construction, board games. The club leaders facilitate and support these activities.
The Childcare club costs £8 per session and should be booked in advance. If you are interested in your child joining the after school childcare club then please speak to reception or email email@example.com for further information or to book a place for your child.
