PE @ Springwood Primary Academy
At Springwood, we are proud to offer a high-quality PE programme that supports children’s physical health, confidence and enjoyment of sport. Our PE lessons are delivered by our specialist PE teacher, Mr Bowers, who ensures that all pupils take part in engaging, inclusive and well-structured lessons.
All children at Springwood take part in PE and experience a wide range of sports during their time with us. These include football, tag rugby, basketball, netball, dance, gymnastics, tennis, athletics, rounders, cricket, orienteering and fitness. As children move through the school, they continue to develop key skills such as coordination, teamwork and resilience.
We also offer a wide variety of extra-curricular sporting opportunities. These include after-school sports clubs, Bikeability, swimming sessions and our annual Sports Day. These activities allow children to try new sports, build confidence and develop a positive attitude towards staying active.
Our PE curriculum follows the ACET Long Term Plan, which clearly outlines the sports and skills taught in each year group. We provide a wide range of after-school sports clubs every half term, giving pupils plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Children also have the chance to take part in Rotherham School Games events, ACET competitions and individual fixtures. While Mr Bowers leads the delivery of PE lessons, Miss Smith remains our PE Lead and continues to organise all sporting events, competitions and residential opportunities, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that pupils gain the maximum benefit from these experiences.
We believe that PE plays a vital role in helping children stay healthy, build friendships and develop a lifelong love of physical activity.
PE Kit
All pupils should have their PE kit in school for all lessons. Hair needs to be tied up, correct footwear worn and earrings need to be taped up.
